Folk events in Leicestershire and Rutland

Halsway Manor is England’s National Residential Centre for Traditional Music, Dance and Song.

These three new textile panels illustrating a wide range of English traditional dances and customs were hung in the Great Hall at Halsway Manor in September 2010. They were designed not only to present an image of the wide range of traditions associated with the EFDSS and Halsway Manor, but also to complement the shape of the barrel ceiling  and enhance the splendour of the Great Hall.

The story behind the two year project involved in creating them and full details and pictures of all 24 activities depicted are provided in a delightfull 56 page booklet published by the Halsway Manor Society.
